WE WANT YOU ..FOR 26 YEARS !

An unusual Roman veteran's certificate of service has turned up at Lanchester, Co. Durham.

It dates to c.150AD and belonged to a Britunculus, a reet likely lad.

Tigernos (a name of British origins --features still in Migration Period - ) served for 26 years on the briney - or maybe on rivers too. Must be a lot of detail to be read when the plates are cleaned.

If you are wondering why Lanchester  you should read 'The Piercebridge Formula' which outlines the extensive system of riverine and canal logistics used by the Romans.

One can only hope the full text is published before the next century.
