The Greek Navy makes some PR trips with a crew of navy and public every now and then apparently. This is not a selected, trained crew but still good to see it under oars. Filmed with a drone maybe?
As winter comes on in northern latitudes this film is very inspiring...

THFE Productions have a set of three videos on YOUTUBE concerning Punic Wars galleys and naval warfare.
Whilst disagreeing with some minor points, I recommend these videos wholeheartedly.
The videos use the Rome:Total War game package to generate documentary footage and it works very well ! It is great to see galleys in action and they look better here than in the over-dramatic, klunky promo videos for the game.

The content is well-researched and up-to-date rather than the hackneyed material so often regurgitated in popular books and videos.
Watching these videos gives a great overview of naval warfare in the Punic Wars. Certainly more satisfying than Osprey New Vanguard 225.
I saw this many moons ago. Just stumbled upon it onYOUTUBE. I did not think it was as good as I now do..maturity required ;) Thucydides in your face. Watch it without distractions , if that is possible today.

Despite possible errors of detail it is a fun film . I especially like Gaius Lutatius Catulus comanding his ship with his bad leg even though he may not have participated.
Italian freelance 3D computer modeller Francesco Frazzitta has made some impressive renderings of the Marsala ship and its demise at the hands of the Egadi 1 ram mounted on a Roman trieres.
The Marsala ship was a wreck found with another off the Ægadi Islands in 1969. They were identified as Carthaginian and have subsequently been much discussed. The wreck appeared to have a single tier of oars but they were possibly double-manned. Its curious upturned 'ram' is probably a structure to facilitate operating in areas with many sand bars rather than a weapon. Its companion ship was equipped with a bronze ram of which only the supporting timbers remained.
